WENDELL
Wendell is a young pittie mix with a great personality. He LOVES people and would love to be part of the family. He’s happy to join in on walks, hikes, and car rides but is equally happy to climb up on the couch with you and snore away an afternoon. He’s very cuddly and would probably live in your pocket given the chance. He has EXCELLENT house manners. He’s well house broken and hasn’t shown any tendencies for destruction. Does a great job when left alone, even uncrated (just curls up and sleeps in his bed). Doesn’t bark at the door or out the windows. He loves to be around other dogs, but can be a little boisterous for some - any dogs he shares a home with should be mild mannered and tolerant of his enthusiastic nature. Wendell would benefit from more training and socialization for this. We haven’t seen him around cats or kids. Though, because of his size, level of excitement, and tendency to lean on people he loves, he probably wouldn’t be a good fit for a home with young children. Wendell LOVES toys and will happily chew on bones and squeaky toys. He’ll need to learn that shoes and socks aren’t also toys.

YOU SHOULD BE READY TO HELP WENDELL WORK ON:
Leash manners
He pulls when excited and he’s strong.
Greeting other dogs more calmly
Think handshakes, not piggy backs, Wendell.
Taking behavior cues from other dogs
He’s currently too excited to notice them and some other dogs don’t like this. They try to correct Wendell but Wendell ignores. This will hurt his relationship with other dogs. He’ll do great with more socialization and training.
Greeting humans calmly
He likes to lean on people, sometimes tries to climb, and can nibble hands when overly excited -- it would be easy to teach him to grab a toy instead.
Not treating socks and shoes like toys Wendell LOVES toys, and has great instincts to go grab them when overly excited. Lean into this!
OTHER
Wendell is a good climber. He has a demonstrated ability to get on top of crates and climb end tables to get around baby gates.
He doesn’t really like being in the yard much (wants to be inside comfy with his people).
Loves toys!
